Toby began his hockey career at Team Bath Buccaneers after playing hockey through his school career attending Colston's school, KES bath and Millfield. Toby made his senior international debut for Wales in October 2021 against Malaysia.
He played in the World Cup Qualifiers which saw Wales qualify for the 2023 World Cup for the first time and represented Wales at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Toby was selected for the GB squad, joining in February 2022. He would go onto make his GB debut at the fourth edition of the FIH Pro League.
