FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneswar – Rourkela, Group Stage Matches Released.

The group stage matches have been released for the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup in India. The opening game of the tournament will be between 2016 Olympic Gold Medallists Argentina and South Africa, the highest-rated African nation, it will occur at the multi-purpose, 15,000-seater Kalinga Stadium of Bhubaneswar.

The first game for both of the home nation teams and the first ever game in the World Cup circuit for Wales, will see England and Wales face each other in the brand new Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela, on 13 January 2023 at 17:00. Both teams will then proceed to play Spain and India between 15-19 January as their Group stage matches, more details below.

England:

  • 13 January 2023 – England v Wales - Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela – 11:30
  • 15 January 2023 – England v India - Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela – 13:30
  • 19 January 2023 – England v Spain – Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar – 11:30

Wales

  • 13 January 2023 – Wales v England - Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela – 11:30
  • 15 January 2023 – Wales v Spain - Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela – 11:30
  • 19 January 2023 – Wales v India – Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar – 13:30

The ticket sales for the FIH Odisha Hockey Men's World Cup 2023 Bhubaneswar-Rourkela will start shortly. However, all fans are encouraged to pre-register their interest by filling the following form: https://fih.formstack.com/forms/world_cup_tickets_pre_registration  

The draw held on 8 September in Bhubaneswar determined the four Pools as follows:
Pool A: Australia, Argentina, France, South Africa
Pool B: Belgium, Germany, Korea, Japan
Pool C: Netherlands, New Zealand, Malaysia, Chile
Pool D: India, England, Spain, Wales
