How the FIH Hockey Pro League will work in 2023

The schedule for the fourth season of the global FIH Hockey Pro League has been confirmed, with Great Britain’s men’s and women’s teams taking part in a number of top class fixtures both at home and abroad.

The season will run from late 2022 to the summer of 2023 and will be divided into a series of mini-tournaments whereby teams gather in one venue. Great Britain’s teams will play two mini-tournaments on home soil, with their away tournaments taking place in Argentina and New Zealand.

The amendment to the tournament structure is designed to maintain the best possible fixtures, while also having a positive impact on player welfare, reducing travel time and impact on domestic leagues and club competitions.

FIH CEO Thierry Weil added: “The FIH Hockey Pro League is still a relatively young competition. Therefore, it is our duty, together with the participating nations, to proceed to a regular review and make adjustments as appropriate for the enhancement of the experience. This new schedule will be better for athletes, better for hosts, better for fans and better for the environment.”
