Applications Open For Independent Director - Great Britain Hockey Limited

Voluntary Role (inc. expenses)

Following the success of Great Britain Hockey at the Rio and Tokyo Olympics this is an incredibly exciting time to be part of our sport as we plan for Paris 2024.  Great Britain Hockey Limited (GBHL) is the organisation responsible for overseeing the selection, preparation and participation of the GB men’s and women’s teams in Olympic Games and other international events. One of the two current Independent Directors has completed their allowable term. Therefore, in accordance with the requirements of the company’s Articles of Association the organisation is seeking to appoint a new Independent Director for the next 4 years.

The role includes attending the GBHL board meetings (3 or 4 per year) plus liaison with the company’s other independent director to carry out the function of ensuring that GBHL meets its obligations under the GB Hockey Framework Agreement, a copy of which can be viewed at https://www.greatbritainhockey.co.uk/about-us/how-gb-hockey-works.   There may also be the requirement to represent GB Hockey at other meetings and events.

Following undertaking a skills audit, GBHL is particularly interested in meeting candidates who have either experience of working in a legal capacity or recent experience / involvement in elite sport at the highest level (Olympic level).

The full role description and details of the key skills and qualities required is available here.

To apply in confidence please send your Curriculum Vitae and a covering letter to Michele Townsend by email at HR@greatbritainhockey.co.uk.

The closing date for applications is 5 April 2023

Interviews will be on 20th April 2023

Great Britain Hockey Limited (GBHL) is committed to the principles of equality in sport. GBHL aims to ensure that all people, irrespective of their age, gender, ability, race, religion or belief, ethnic origin, colour, nationality, social status or sexual orientation, have a genuine and equal opportunity to participate in hockey at all levels and in all roles.  We are keen to improve our board gender balance and diversity so are particularly interested in applications from female applicants and those from underrepresented groups.
