FIH Hockey Pro League: How Things Stand

Both Great Britain’s men and women are in action on Saturday and Sunday when they travel to face New Zealand in Auckland, all of which you can see live on BT Sport.
Both sides put in strong performances in their first match of the weekend against Australia, the men taking a draw whilst the women were unlucky to lose having conceded with less than 15 seconds left on the clock.
Though both teams recorded a loss in their second match, the women by default due to the match being abandoned from stormy weather, the sides will go into the weekend’s matches buoyed on by going toe to toe with their opposition.
Whilst New Zealand’s men suffered consecutive defeats to Belgium and are yet to pick up a point, the women’s side were able to top Belgium 4-1 in their second match after losing the opening game.
The Netherlands are unbeaten and currently top the women’s table with four victories after their matches against China and the USA, whilst Australia sit second on nine points after four games.
It’s Belgium who lead the way in the men’s competition having amassed 11 points from four games, only being denied a victory in their opening match against Australia which finished level at 2-2.
Both Germany and India remain unbeaten after two matches with a win and draw (on both occasions picking up the bonus point) after their matches against Spain and the Netherlands respectively.
Meanwhile, Argentina play their first matches this weekend when the women face the USA and men take on Spain.
