Olympian Williams named GB Hockey President

GB Hockey has announced the appointment of Don Williams as its new President, with Williams set to take up the role from 2 February 2026.

Williams brings with him a wealth of experience both on and off the pitch. A former Great Britain international with 122 caps, he represented Team GB at the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games and was part of the bronze medal-winning squad at the 1991 European Cup.

Away from the game, Williams is a Chartered Accountant and highly respected business leader. He spent more than 15 years as Coverage Partner for Retail at KPMG in London (2014–2025), following a long tenure at BDO (1989–2014), where he served as Partner in Audit and Head of Retail. His combined experience in elite sport and corporate governance brings valuable perspective to the role.

Williams has continued to give back to hockey throughout his career, coaching at Reading Hockey Club and Berkshire County Hockey, and supporting both GB Hockey and the International Hockey Federation (FIH) on a number of strategic projects, including the development of the GB Framework Agreement.

As President, Williams will act as Head of Delegation for Great Britain teams at major international events, including the Olympic Games, and will play a key role in supporting athletes, staff and partners across the performance system.

“Taking on the role of President is a great honour,” said Williams. “I owe a great deal to the sport that shaped my life, and I am passionate about giving back. I look forward to building on the strong foundations already laid and working closely with our athletes, staff, volunteers and partners to help GB Hockey continue to thrive and perform on the world stage.”
