Formally Laura Unsworth, Laura Roper is statistically the greatest hockey Olympian ever produced in Great Britain as at Tokyo 2020 she became the first player to win medals at three different Games.

Having won bronze on home soil at London 2012, she then famously helped the team secure a historic gold at the Rio 2016 Olympics. Laura then made it three medals from three Olympics in Tokyo as she played a crucial role in leading the team to an emotional bronze.

Tough tackling, composed on the ball and with an outstanding reading of the game, Laura is a central figure in the team who can be found excelling all over the pitch.

In the summer of 2022 she surpassed 300 international appearances for England and Great Britain; helped England win a first ever Commonwealth Games gold in her hometown of Birmingham and then carried the flag at the closing ceremony.

In Decemeber 2022, Laura was part of the GB squad that went out to Argentina and played all 4 games.

One of several former Loughborough Students players in the squad, Laura originally hails from Sutton Coldfield, the same town as the legendary British star Jane Sixsmith MBE.
