Firstly, thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully I can give you a better understanding of who we are and what we are trying to achieve, some of you may have already heard about the ‘Hockey for Heroes’ Tour but for those of you who haven’t here is a quick introduction.

The most important thing to remember is that this event is not just a few hockey clubs being involved in a charity event, this squad represents every hockey club in England and we are just a small group of players acting on behalf of our ‘Hockey Family’ and showing everyone what hockey can achieve when we put our resources together for the greater good of others.

Who are we?

The H4H Squad is made up of 20 hockey players from 12 different hockey clubs across England (West Derby HC, Leeds HC, Army HA, RAF HA, St. Albans HC, East Grinstead HC, Lincoln Roses HC, Hertford HC, Tunbridge Wells HC, St. Mary’s Uni HC, Horncastle HC & Kings Heath HC).

Who else is involved?

The whole event incorporates many different organisations and their help and support is fundamental to the success of the event: EHB, Hockey Clubs, Hockey Suppliers, Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, Red Cross, Fire Brigade, Hockey Sponsors, Local Authorities, Local Businesses, National Businesses, International Businesses, Friends & Family.

What are we attempting to do?

We will be travelling around England 14th – 22nd June 2013 visiting both civilian & military hockey clubs to play full hockey matches to raise much needed funds for Help for Heroes Charity, our journey will cover almost 800 miles, in 8 days, playing 23 games of hockey (please see attached tour schedule).

What are we trying to achieve?

We are trying to raise a minimum of £20,000 for the charity and also trying to promote the charity itself, promote our sport and strengthen relationships between clubs across the country.

Why?

Why not? Our service personnel put themselves in harm’s way on a daily basis to ensure our safety. Whenever we need them they are there to protect us. That may be in some faraway place that most of us have never even been to, or closer to home ensuring that our athletes were safe at the 2012 Olympics. They looked after our colleagues, our hockey players from our hockey clubs.

What can you do to help?

Our aim is for every hockey club, every hockey player, friends, family, colleagues of every hockey player in England to know about ‘Hockey for Heroes’ Tour. We want this event to touch everybody in one way or another.

There are a number of ways each club can help this event:

Ø Please promote this event on your club website

Ø Please promote the event through your social media network sites

Ø Please encourage your members to visit our social media network sites

Ø Please encourage your club & your members to donate to our charity page

Ø Please come to one (or all) the venues to support the squad

Ø Finally and most importantly be part of it, this is YOUR Squad and they represent everything that is good about our sport

Thanks

Carl Woods

Team Manager
