Maddie Hinch

One of if not the best female goalkeeper in the world, Hinch has made a huge impact on the international stage with her acrobatics and penalty shootout heroics.

During the Olympic final she saved four penalty efforts in a row as GB won Gold against the Netherlands. She had previously supplied similar heroics for England in 2015 as she stopped the Dutch in a shootout to help her side to European Gold.

Maddie has been named FIH World Goalkeeper of the Year for two consecutive years in 2017 an 2018.

She first started goalkeeping after being told by a PE teacher that the way she threw herself around during rounders might be better suited to a hockey goal!

Since then Maddie's made a name for herself as a goalkeeper extraordinaire, starting at Exmouth HC and working her way up to becoming England's number one and making her senior debut against Germany in 2008.

Since then she's gained a degree in Sport & Exercise Science from Loughborough University, and when she's not protecting hockey goals she's coaching others to do the same.
