Great Britain Prepares took place in May 2012. The full day experience at Bisham Abbey saw more than 300 hockey coaches from across the country enjoy a day of observation and learning from the very best.
Great Britain's Head Coaches Jason Lee and Danny Kerry and their respective coaching teams put their Olympic squads through their paces while answering questions from the audience live.
Guests also enjoyed a series of workshops hosted by some of the most influential names in sport including the English Institute of Sport, Polar Heart Rate Monitors, Bryan Jones, Principal Lecturer in Coaching & Performance at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) and Level 4 Hockey Coach Award, and John Trower, Level 4 hockey coach and coach to triple Olympic medallist Steve Backley.
There has been some excellent feedback from those that attended...
A quick email to say thank you for putting together the GB Prepares coaching day. It was great to see so many coaches together in one place and to meet old friends and colleagues. Also, I think it was a great learning tool for all of us, the chance to see the performance squads working was brilliant. As Danny [Kerry] said if we all take away one little nugget it will spread the word to 1,000's of players. I was pleased to see lots of Mercia Lynx coaches there as well.
Well done and thank you for putting this on and helping so many of us.

Just a quick email to say what a fantastic day all our Hockey Wales staff and Performance Coaches had at the GB Coach Engagement Day last week. We also had a number of club coaches and young coaches attend following our Hockey Wales Awards and the feedback from the experience they had was second to none.
The hockey and commentary from the GB coaches was inspirational to say the least and it was great to hear first-hand some of the key messages and principles that the GB Coaches have instilled. The workshops were excellent and again outlined some key principles whilst also breaking the day up really well.
Overall, excellent content and organisation on the day and I’m sure it will be an experience that many of our coaches, particularly our young and club coaches will never forget….and of course, we look forward to more in the future!
Best Wishes,
Amanda Roberts
