Officiating

GB Officials (umpires, umpires managers and technical officials) are selected, managed and appointed by the GB Performance Officiating Panel (GBPOP). This Panel is made up of a representative of each of the three home nations (England, Scotland and Wales) plus two independent members who are appointed by the GB Hockey Board.

The current GBPOP members are: David Faulkner (GB Performance Director), Jane Nockolds (England Hockey National Manager), Martyn Gallivan and Margaret Hunnaball (independents), Colin Crayford (Wales), Julia Gill (England) and Norrie Urquhart (Scotland). Registers of Officials (umpires, umpires managers and technical officials) were first introduced by GBPOP in November 2006.

Umpires are divided into two panels and technical officials and umpires managers one panel per group. The umpire panels in principle mirror those of the players, namely Performance and Development and the technical and UM panels are reflective of appointments at international level.

All panels are based on current rankings, age and international accreditation/expectation while also acknowledging that assessment and personal circumstances can influence change and movement.
