Mascots thrilled to walk onto the pitch at the FIH Pro League

The FIH Pro League has been a league to remember for more than one hundred children from hockey clubs across the country. Each home game has mascots who run onto the pitch and sing the national anthem with teams from all over the world.

Sunday 9 June was a special day for junior members from various hockey clubs across England. They were selected to be included in the pre-match presentation for Great Britain vs Australia at the double header at Lee Valley and Hockey Tennis Centre.

One young lady called Rosie from Reigate Priory Hockey Club was even more excited. She was attending the matches with her family, which is a interesting split... her mum is English and her father is Australian. Rosie was born in the UK and was supporting GB but was really excited and proud to stand on the pitch with both teams.

We spoke to Rosie’s mum after the game and she said that Rosie had an amazing time and loved the whole experience, she was thrilled to be standing next to both her mother and father's home nations in a sport she loves.

Old Cranleighans were also mascots at the Australia double header.

We heard from another proud parent Cato Choi. "They have been inspired even more to play the game and cannot stop taking about the event and it will forever be in their memory. They were seen all over the world and Ollie leading both Adam Dixon (with his stick under his arm) and the Australian ladies captain out was amazing for both my wife and myself as a proud parent moment!!'
