Heather Williams
Great Britain Hockey is delighted to announce the appointment of Heather Williams as the Head of Elite Talent Development.

Heather joins already boasting an impressive CV, including being the Performance Director of British Triathlon between 2006-2012 and overseeing an incredibly successful period as they won major titles across the board, including their first ever Olympic medals at London 2012. British Triathlon was also twice named Governing Body of the Year at the Sports Industry Awards during that time.

As the GB Head of Elite Talent Development, Heather will be responsible for delivering a world-leading ‘Podium Potential’ programme and also helping to lead and evolve the recently formed GB Elite Development Programme (EDP). This is something she already has plenty of experience with, having been the Talent Pathway Manager at British Canoeing for four years.

Speaking about Heather’s appointment, Performance Director Ed Barney said: “Following an extensive and world-wide search, I’m delighted that Heather is joining the performance team at England and Great Britain Hockey. Heather brings a wealth of experience, huge acumen and I’m sure Heather will be an asset to the organisation over the coming years.

“It’s exciting to have someone join from outside hockey and team sport and I’m sure that the experience Heather brings from previous sports, will lead to significant evolution and performance impact over the coming years.

“One area that Heather will be focusing on heavily is the evolution and progress of our performance domestic game and relationship with clubs – this will be an exciting area to watch."

Heather also added: “I am delighted to be joining Great Britain Hockey as GB Head of Elite Talent Development at such an exciting time for Hockey in Great Britain.

“I am looking forward to working with all the athletes, coaches and support staff within the Elite Development Programme, along with each of the Home Nation Programmes, to ensure we create a world leading environment for our developing players which enables sustained international success.”
