Pennine Pumas 0 (0)

Mercia Lynx 3 (0)
Olivia Back 38 (FG)
Maeve Macdonald 44, 53 (FG, FG)

Mercia Lynx bounced back from their defeat in yesterday’s opener by taking a 3-0 win over Pennine Pumas. In a close match that was goalless at the break the Lynx produced a superb second half display and took home the spoils.

The first half was end to end with both sides grappling for control of the midfield. Chances were hard to come by but those that were created were ably dealt with by Mia McCreesh and Jess Walsh in the respective goals.

Half time came and went and it was very even but three minutes after the break, Olivia Back showed a cool head in front of goal to apply the finish and break the deadlock.

Lynx had a golden opportunity to double their lead from the penalty spot but goalkeeper Natalie Stevens, a half time replacement made a superb save diving to her right to keep her side in the hunt.

Despite the goalkeeping heroics the lead was doubled in the 44th minute. Maeve Macdonald made a strong break into the circle and found a gap at the near post to make it 2-0.

Macdonald was at it again nine minutes later, firing home her second and her team’s third to ensure the Lynx took the win.

Caledonian Cougars 0 (0)

Saxon Tigers 4 (3)
Abby Gooderham 5 (FG)
Jordan Homann 11, 64 (PC, FG)
Catherine Ledesma 26 (FG)

Saxon Tigers booked their place in the weekend’s final with a 4-0 win over Caledonian Cougars. A strong first half showing put them three goals to the good and despite a spirited display from the Cougars another goal six minutes from time made it 4-0 and sealed the win.

Tigers, buoyed by their win over Celtic Jaguars yesterday got an early break through with Abby Gooderham netting from open play after five minutes.

Jordan Homann made it 2-0 after 11 minutes with a well taken penalty corner and before the break Catherine Ledesma made it 3-0.

The second half was a much tighter affair with both sides going close on a number of occasions. Despite some good attacking play it wasn’t until six minutes from time when Homann added her second to make it 4-0 at the end and send Saxon Tigers into the final.
