Gold medal winners of 1988 mark 25th anniversary

David Faulkner with HRH Duchess of Cambridge

25 years after winning Olympic hockey gold in Seoul, the GB players of 1988 have reunited at a gala dinner in London.

18 of the men from both the '88 gold medal winning team and the bronze medal winning team from 1984 were able to meet up in London for their 25th and 29th anniversaries. Although they didn't get to play any hockey at this year's reunion, many of the medal winning team-members still play an active role within the sport. For example, David Faulkner is the director of sport at Millfield school and Richard Leman is the current the GB Hockey President.

Sean Kerly is still called on to give commentary for televised tournaments as well as playing for Canterbury, and Imran Sherwani can still be seen at Cannock where his sons play regularly. Two players from Ireland also made the trip into London from their home province of Ulster - Jimmy Kirkwood, also a former Ireland cricketer, and Stephen Martin, now the chief executive of the Olympic Council of Ireland.
