Colonel Dennis Eagan, 1926-2012

Colonel Dennis EaganEngland Hockey is saddened to report the passing of Colonel Dennis Eagan, aged 85, from leukaemia. Colonel Eagan served the Hockey Association as Secretary and then Secretary General from 1976 until 1986.  In 1987 he was appointed Vice President of the Hockey Association.  He made eight international appearances for Great Britain and was a member of the bronze medal winning GB team at the Helsinki Olympics Games in 1952.  He was captain of the Combined Services and Army team and served as Chairman of the Army Hockey Association. 

A keen supporter of the development of the National Hockey Stadium in Milton Keynes, he was heavily involved in the organisation and running of the hockey World Cup in London in 1986.

The Funeral Service in Celebration of the Life of Colonel (Retd) Dennis Eagan, Late Royal Engineers, will take place in the Royal Memorial Chapel, The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, by kind permission of the Commandant, at 2pm on Tuesday 17th July 2012.  The service will be followed by the Committal for close family at Easthampstead Park Crematorium, Bracknell.

Afternoon tea will be served in the Officers’ Mess, New College following the service in the Royal Memorial Chapel.
