Great Britain draw with World Champions Australia

James Fair in action against Australia - Olympic Test Event 450 x 259

Great Britain drew 3-3 with Australia in a match they needed to win to make the final tomorrow afternoon.

The first half saw Great Britain goals from James Tindall and Richard Alexander, both players firing shots home from the top of the circle from penalty corners.  On both occasions the scoreline was pulled back by Australia, firstly by Matt Gohdes and then by Jason Wilson just before half time.

The second half saw a plethora of penalty corners to Australia as they piled on the pressure forcing some top class saves from James Fair in the GB goal.  Eventually Austrlia's persistance paid off and they were awareded a penalty stroke which Simon Orchard put away.  Great Britain managed to make it 3-3 with a trademark Ashley Jackson penalty corner, but it just wasn't enough to make the final.
